I know I don't post or comment nearly as much as I should, but...
A few days ago, my young Rottweiler, Bronx, died quite suddenly from unknown causes.. and Zoey, my Huskey, is really depressed about it. They were pretty close, and spent a lot of time together... we had another Rott pass on a few years back, and she went through a short depression, but this one seems more severe.

For the first two days afterwords she would look for him, and follow me around poking at me because she could tell I was upset, but didn't know why... but now she seems to have realized that Bronxy is gone.

I've been loving on her and I bought her some new toys, but...it seems a lot of the time she wags her tail more to humor me, you know? She'll wag a few times, bite at the toy, then go back to looking sad. Sometimes she wanders around outside or plays with the Labrador, Luna, but more often than not she's laying somewhere with her head between her paws...
I had a feeling she'd take it pretty hard, but I just don't know how I can help her... should I just not worry and let it pass, or is there something more I can do for her? She already sleeps on my bed with me and gets spoiled rotten during the day...

She'll spend long periods of time just staring out at the woods...like she's looking for him. Luna has been sad, but not as much as my Zoey... any advice?

finally, alliyah is here. she's such a character too. she's always talking (she is very vocal, but not loud and she doesn't bark either) and she burps as well! i think it's halarious.

yesterday, we took her to petsmart to get some toys and she was very social. she wanted to meet everyone and everyone wanted to meet her. (huskies get lots of attention!)

she seems to be settling in well, although her stomach may be a little upset because she had an accident this morning and then another in the house not that long ago. i can't help but feel deja-vu from that.. :/

but yeah, she's doing good so far and hopefully she'll be alright. anyway, without further adu, the pictures..

the new addition.Collapse )

a tip i've found useful [22 Aug 2004|10:02am]

as i was telling rikki5050 in a comment exchange that is now gone, my furbaby has come into her first heat session. since she's just over a year old, i'm not going to breed her this first go round. i think she still needs to be loved and puppied some more. this decision, and i feel it is the right one, has me with the quandary of keeping the little red dots from appearing everywhere she plops her bottom end down! in my own stroke of genius/insanity, i have come up with a solution similar to something my mom did with her shih tzu when she came into heat: put panties on her (except my mom had the time to sew her several pairs of panties where i don't have that kind of time at the moment with still settling into the new place).

i just moved to texas and haven't had time to find a pet store that sells a doggie panty version so what i've done is i've taken two pairs of my son's underoos and used them (cutting out a slit in the butt for her tail, of course) in conjunction with 1/2 a panty liner. yeah, she's not too fond of them but she can't get them off either.

anybody else have a similar situation or a better suggestion for putting something in the bottom to absorb the blood? it seems to be doing just fine except for the panty liner. the under roos aren't too confining on her as they are under roos too big for my son to wear (he's now ten).

i keep telling her she looks cute in them, give her extra pets, and lots of reassurances so she doesn't feel like i stuck them on her to make fun of her. i definitely remove them when i take her outside to potty even though there are male dogs in the area. i do keep a close eye out for them so one doesn't jump on her and mate her.

dogpawed
Hey all, I need some help. We started a website called http://www.dogpawed.com a few days ago. It is still a work in progress but I am looking for some people to upload some of their dog photos to the photo album. Puppy pictures are also a plus :). I really need all breeds but since I have a fondness for Huskies, can you guys help me out?

btw...this is my German Shepherd. He is without a doubt my best friend :)

Hi! I'm new! I absolutly LOVE Siberian Huskies! I don't have one yet but I'm planning on getting one once I move out of my parents house... Everytime I got a pet store with my friends or family and they have a huskie I sit in front of them and just watch them the entire time we're in the store... I absloutley love them... I have ever since I saw White Fang when I was 5... I always thought they were beautiful creatures and I love their eyes... I can't wait to get one of my own... I think getting one will definetly help me through the roughness in my life right now... I need something to care for... I've been debating buying "Siberian Huskies for Dummies" although I don't know if that's the best place to get my information... Any advice from fellow Huskie lovers?

Hey, I'm new, I grew up among Siberian huskies and I love them to pieces, One of them died recently though, the remaining four are awesome! I'll post pictures at some point.

-Nik.

PS. In the Spring with the next litter of pups I'll be getting one of them as my own, any advice I would be very grateful for. Thanks.

Nika and Sheba's brother Bear came over a couple of weeks ago so I thought I'd share a pic=)

lol...there Bear and Sheba look stoned. Chica is peeking behind Eric's leg in the background.

Mom says out of all the pups that she had, Bear is the one that she thinks grew up to be the prettiest=) He's a big boy, too! But also really sweet.

Here's some pics I took just for the fun of it. I never got around to sharing em so figured it's about time I do so. This is Nanaki (na nak key) or her nick name "Dory" for being like the fish from Finding Nemo with short term memory ;) Enjoy, and if you need em cut ...just request but I think the image size shouldn't cause too many troubles.

advice needed!! [09 Aug 2004|11:52pm]

sistersunshine
We're loading up our jeep and heading cross country with the wonder pups in just a few weeks. My husband is in the air force and we are relocating to a new base. I would greatly appreciate any tips on traveling with two siberian husky pups, they are a year and a half old.

We are trying to decide if we should crate them during the trip or try some kind of seat belt harness. I would love any advice or recommedations, right now we are slightly leaning towards the crate because I fear Yukon Jack might get bored and eat the seat belt harness and then the seat, and who knows what else.

We are planning on driving from California to Florida and we've been searching for dog friendly places to stop along the way! We aren't sure if we'll camp most of the trip or try to find hotels. We are having a hard time deciding what would be easiest.

I'll have to attempt to post some pictures of the little monsters sometime soon!

OK...I just got back from the grocery store with Thor. When I got there, I parked the car and opened the door to get out. Thor then proceeds to slip by me and dart out into the middle of the parking lot. Fortunately, he heads for the store instead of the road, and I chase him around Super Fresh, finally cornering him in the frozen-foods section. I swear, one of these days I'm gonna turn that little fuzzbutt into fur slippers.....

Here is my baby Akya - shes a year and a half old. I got her when she was six months old from a couple who had bought her from a breeder. However, their older male husky was not getting along with Akya at all, so they decided to give her up. Here are some pictures of her :)

I am extremely envious of all of you with beautiful huskies. They are my absolute favorite (besides German Shepherds) dog. My neighbors had one named Surreia and he was the sweetest dog ever. I'm stuck with a Bassett Hound that my mom complains that she wants to get rid of him, but whenever the opportunity arises, she refuses to. He's loving, but I want a husky. I went nuts the other day looking through a Penny Saver, finding an ad for Husky puppies, and finding there's no way I'd be able to save 500$ before they were all sold.

I absolutely love Siberian Huskies! :)

Anyone know anything about flying cross-country with a dog?
I'm probably going to fly with Delta, but I've never taken a pet with me.
